Great visit by Matt Krizan

Matt Krizan stopped by the Central Coast last weekend. He co-taught an on water coastal navigation class. Matt completed paddling along California coastline from the Oregon border to the Mexican border in October -Nov 2013. He also shared his adventures with a talk at Central Coast Aquarium on Saturday May 31st, 2014. Both the class and his talk were part of a fundraising effort for the Cal Poly Adapted Paddling program. Thanks again Matt. Hope to paddle with you again soon.

Trip B-flatwater lake 0-8 kts of wind. 47 F water and 40-60 F air temp  6 hrs on the water fishing/

I had a chance to demo the boat from a local retailer and also take it through its paces in both fresh water lake and the ocean.

Fred hall Fish and tackle show 2013

A very fun day in Long Beach at this year's Fred Hall Fish and tackle show. There were tons of tackle, boats, kayaks etc there to check out, but we only had one day to see as much as we could.  I also got a chance to meet up with some of the company reps from Ocean Kayak, Hobie, Jackson kayaks, and Feel Free to see the latest designs. Something new from Jackson Kayaks is a new fishing SUP (pictured here). Can handle up to 350 lbs and is 35" wide. Comes with rod holder attachments and a Go Pro mount in the front and the back of the board.

Kayak Review-Feel Free Moken 12.5

Fit and Finish:

I was very struck right away by the fit and finish of the boat. Every fitting is made with stainless screws, or a stainless rod instead of pop rivets. The attachment points are recessed into the boat and handles are part of the molded body of the kayak. There is a wheel in the back of the boat as part of the keel to help move the boat to the water or to the car.
